A School Built on Faith and Inquiry

Cognitio Lutheran Secondary School was founded in 1960 by the Lutheran Church Hong Kong as a place where young people could pursue knowledge without losing sight of meaning. The name we carry — Cognitio — is the Latin word for knowing, and it stands for our promise: that real education is not the accumulation of facts, but a process of coming to know the world, oneself, and God.

From a single classroom block on the edge of Pak Tam Chung, the school has grown into a full secondary campus serving more than 900 students. The setting has not changed: we still sit beside the Wisdom Valley, where Sai Kung Country Park begins, and where the rhythm of school life is shaped as much by tide and trail as by timetable.

Vision & Mission

What We Are For

Our Vision

To be a community where every student leaves with a sharper mind, a steadier conscience, and a wider horizon — equipped to serve the world they have inherited.

Our Mission

We pursue this vision through Christian formation, academic rigour, and whole-person development. We hold that knowledge without character is incomplete, and that character without competence is not yet ready for the work of the world.

I

Integrity

To live and learn truthfully, even when no one is watching.

II

Inquiry

To question well, to listen carefully, to think for oneself.

III

Service

To use what we learn for the good of others, not just ourselves.

IV

Stewardship

To care for the people, the place, and the planet entrusted to us.
